I was a kid once, too, and I was probably a lot like you. My family lived in a small apartment. I shared a tiny bedroom with my brother until I graduated high school. There never seemed to be enough ways for kids to earn money to get the things that I really wanted.

And what I really wanted, more than anything, was an electric football game. This was before video games, before iPods, even before VCRs!

I thought that game was the greatest thing ever invented! You turned on the motor, and all the players actually moved around the field!

Of course, there wasn't enough money for my parents to get it for me. I needed to find some ways for kids to earn money.

And so, when I was 11 years old, I got my first job, singing in a professional choir. And with the money I earned, I bought myself that game!

I was the proudest kid in the neighborhood (AND the most popular! Nobody else could afford it, either!)

Over the years, I made money whenever I could. I worked for the post office during Christmas vacation, I worked for a law school as a part-time clerk, and I worked for a theater company.

And by the time I left high school, I was able to put myself through college!

Now, of course, I'm a father myself, and my own son, who is 10, has been MAKING MONEY SINCE HE WAS 7 YEARS OLD. He's bought himself a bicycle, a skateboard, and a bunch of musical instruments. He even takes the whole family out for breakfast sometimes! He's learned how to make money fast! For a kid of his age, that is an amazing skill!

His goal is to be a millionaire by the time he is 13, and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if he makes it! Needless to say, HE DOESN'T HAVE TO BEG ME to buy things for him; he just uses the money he's made himself.

The other day, he decided he HAD to have an iPod (a friend of his had just gotten one). He went out and earned the money he needed to get it-------- in 90 MINUTES!! Talk about quick ways for kids to earn money!

Of course, I am proud of my son, but he is not any different than you. He's not any smarter, or more talented or more driven. He gets in trouble for talking in school sometimes, and his room at home is usually a mess.
